Just got the Toyo Open Country RT Trails in LT 315 70R 17. Replaced my well worn Toyo AT IIs. They’re on my ‘17 JKU with 4 inch lift. I can tell you I hear no discernible difference from the AT IIs which had very little road noise either. The RTs feel great and look even better. I’ve not had them in the dirt yet but on pavement they’re excellent. I love them.

Pros: feel great, look better
Cons: not tested in dirt

Toyo’s will balance better, but are a softer tread compound and will wear/chip quicker. Been having good luck with the Wildpeak’s here in Texas.

Pros: good luck in Texas
Cons: wear/chip quicker

I’ve had Toyo OC, BFG TA/KO2+3, and went the FW AT4 now. Got about 9k on em…and they’re my favorite tire so far. Been on beach, mud, rain and frozen.

Pros: favorite tire so far
Mileage: 9000 km

I myself drive Nankang AS2+ with the dimensions: 235/35 R19.

Apart from the less direct steering and a driving profile that is a little more geared towards comfort, I am very satisfied.

I have a great grip feeling and the rim protection is slightly wider than with the nexen nfera su1.

Pros: great grip feeling
Cons: less direct steering

I am leaning toward my next set being Toyo GSI-6, for a few reasons. Namely, H speed rating (not that I go over the 104mph governed speed of a 2017 Prius Prime) and max pressure of 51psi rather than 44psi. I usually run at 50psi, and find tires only approved to 44psi to be only marginally acceptable to me.

Pros: H speed rating
Cons: handling can get twitchy

Toyo Tires

I don’t share the same disdain for them that everyone else on this sub though. Our CX-5+stock tires is still 10x quieter than the Honda Accord+Pirellis that it replaced.

Pros: 10x quieter
Vehicle: Mazda

NANKANG Tires

In my limited experience with them i'd say that they are marginally better than Toyo's r888r over a single lap but require some tuning set up to not overheat.

Pros: marginally better than Toyo
Cons: require tuning, overheat

Toyo Tires

My patience ran out around 3000 miles. I hated how vague they felt in the rain, and I was not interested in waiting until winter to see how much worse they’d be on snow and ice.

Cons: vague in rain
Vehicle: Mazda 3
Mileage: 4828 km
