100% Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3s Only summer tires I buy anymore. I've had them on a D2 A8 and loved them, now they're on my GTI in 235 35 19 still lovin them. They are expensive and wear relatively quickly, but they have superior performance in wet and dry weather.
I had BBS LM's on my 04 GTI (not an R32). 19x8.5 et 25 trying to remeber the tire size either 225/35/19 or 235/35/19.....i'm drawing a blank, but they where Toyo Proxy 4's and i liked them a lot.
195/45/14 toyo proxes are splendid. I loved that set up.
A while back I got some Proxes-4's from Les Schwab for some ridiculous price like $67/tire. I thought it was a good deal.
I ran the Toyo RA1 this weekend at Mt. Tremblant in a 235/40/17 and I really like them, much more grip than the 615, but you need to get the pressures right on them. I did find that at full tread depth I got a little squirm especially if they over heated.
Well, on the T1-R, its the more upgraded tread design, the T1-S has always had shoulder wear issues, where it will tend to wear out fast than the rest. with the T1-R, they have included lateral ribbing that helps disapate the wear on them, making them last alot longer.
toyo is the best easily available tire for the job. nice profile on them. kumho's look like crap stretched (or not stretched)
Toyo Proxes St - 275/55/18, v rated, m+s rated, 420 treadwear rating, 114 load rating, 50 psi max. pressure, A-traction, A-temperature. This has been the best replacement tire I've had. My 3rd t-Reg had 26,000 mileson this tire and showed little wear.
They're not the best tires. But they're not the worst either. If you hit a pothole, bubbles will form. I have 33,000 miles on my F1's and a bubble has never formed on any of them. They wear relatively fast.
toyos wear fast.
