Tires Toyo or GENERAL TIRE
Just switched from the Nittos to the Toyos and am super happy. Haven't taken them off road yet, but on road they're surprisingly quiet.
From my experience with working with them, I would go with the Toyo. Seem to balance better and wear out more evenly than the Nitto's.
Waited a month with enough miles to report this, however when I went from stock 20s to 275/70/R18 BFG KO2s they more aggressive and heavier tire took 2.5-3 MPG of efficiency from my 21 PB. I got 45k miles from those tires and they were great. In need of new tires I did some research and always heard Toyos were pretty good. So I felt like mixing it up with a new tire. I learned that Toyo early this year came out with a version of the Open Country that is for electric vehicles. A month and 1500 miles later, including some long road trips camping and my regular city driving, I can say that my trip readings are actually 1.5 MPG improved.
Ive been running the generals for ever. Just got a set of the arctic 12s mounted for this winter. Overall design doesnt seem to have changed much since around 2012 and they have always been absolute champs in deep snow for me.
General GMAX AS-05 ultra high performance, all season tires. I'm on my 3rd set, they have a 50k mile warranty and grip like crazy in the rain. Comparable to BFG comp 2's but they look better and are less expensive. I particularly dislike the way the comp 2 sidewall looks.
I’ve run those Toyo’s OC AtIII tires. Worked great on road, off road, and really did well in the snow. I’d recommend them for SUV vehicles.
You have at least three I would replace ASAP. Since you drive a lot you need them to keep you safe. Ask them to give you an out the door price and keep the good firestone if you need a spare. The Toyo Open Country tires are a great replacement and road hazard resistant upgrade.
I’ve have the grabber ATX and I really like those on my old 79 f150 also had them on a 15 f250.
They are decent. I’ve ran the AS 4, Proxes and also the Extreme Contact DWS before. I would call the AS 4 and Extreme Contacts a tier 1 All Season tire, and the Proxes tier 2. The Proxes aren’t bad by any means but the dry grip isn’t on the same level as the other two especially at colder temperatures.
You get what you pay for. The Toyos are garbage.
