Tires Pirelli or RIKEN

Pirelli Tires

I’ve been on the pirelli scorpions (18”) for two years. Got me through Chicago snows and Orlando heat with minimal noise. No complaints at all.

Pros: minimal noise
Cons: none

The Pirelli gives the nicest overall ride, with a sporty steering input. The continental gives the most overall grip and is best in deep snow (4+ inches). The Michelin feels the sportiest, But you feel every minor road imperfection.

Pros: sporty steering input
Cons: feel road imperfection

I got Pirelli P-Zero’s. Meh…. They just came with the Tesla rims. Ok, but I would have went with a Nokian. The pirellis are quiet, smooth run flats…. But the grip is nothing special.

Pros: quiet, smooth run flats
Cons: grip is nothing special

Fronts are 5/32 and rears are 6/32. I'll save the $40 and do it myself. And when the time comes, I'll replace them with something that will last more than, say, 20k miles. I just wish Nokian made tires that fit the 19" wheels.

Pros: replace with longer lasting
Vehicle: Volvo V60
Mileage: 9000 km

Pirellie tires are fun to drive if you want to drive hard and don't care about it being a harsh ride. But, they cost much more and last significantly less miles than other brands. Think 50% or less of their advertised mileage before they become too rough to use.

Pros: fun to drive hard
Cons: harsh ride, high cost, low mileage

My new GTI has p-zero all seasons and they suck. So much slop, understeer, and it's really hard to put the power down.

Cons: much slop, understeer, poor power delivery
Vehicle: Volkswagen
