Tires OEM Toyota or Sailun

Sailun Tires

About to swap out the winter tires that came on the ‘19 tiguan I bought for the wife/hauling kids…. They’re sailun winter blazers….. seem like a great tire and from what I read when confirming they’re in fact winter tires seems they’re one of the best value winter tires so the brands probably not too bad.

Pros: great tire, best value

Sailun Tires

Even a slightly preowned premium tire is better than cheap Chinese crap. Can attest to this personally. I went from new Sailun summer tires in factory size (225/60R16) on my 280hp car to used Michelin Premacy 3s. Guess which had better grip? Guess which was fine to -1C road surface temperature on a wet road?

Pros: better grip, fine in cold
Cons: cheap Chinese crap

I was very surprised with the tyres -- soft ride, good handling, and good wet grip. I would say the performance was the same as that of BF Goodrich which I bought 12 years prior, at half price. This confirms the reviews that the Chinese tyres, and in particular the Sailun ones, have improved in the past years (almost) to the western standards.

Pros: soft ride, good handling
Mileage: 500 km

I ran the Saliun Terramax AT for 2 years, 80k km. Tread still at roughly 60 percent and no flats/cupping, etc.

Pros: no flats/cupping
Mileage: 80000 km

OEM Toyota Tires

Lol, zero grip on dry pavement? They aren’t the best tires, but I really didn’t have any major complaints after 35k miles and ended up buying a second set of brand new take-offs to replace them.

Pros: bought second set
Cons: not the best tires
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 56327 km

Sailun Tires

if you drive a lot, you can get fresh Sailun for cheaper prices, but after two years they will be hard as rock and wont do their thing anymore.

Pros: cheaper prices
Cons: hard as rock
