Tires Nokia or Sava

Solterra owner here, living at 6k feet in the Sierra/Tahoe area..Installed WRg5s a month ago and it's been icy, near the freezing point on several occasions now. Maybe its the Solterra traction control, maybe its the tires...maybe its the combination of both, but I've been testing in black and glazed ice on the roundabouts and the tight icy corners and they won't. break. loose!

They handle rain and snow pretty well... The worst was the ice storm down in Vancouver back in February. They did amazingly well for not being true snow tires and without studs

If you’re looking for a budget friendly option Nokian sells an all weather time you can drive year round the WRG4 which from my experience is better than the budget winter tires in terms of grip. Had them on my car for almost 5 years now and they’re still great

I would recommend the Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 if you could get them.

I just put the studded Hakka 10 on my wife’s new Durango and will never go back. I have the R5 on my car and it’s no comparison to the studded 10s.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta's are the best of the best. You can get both studded and non-studded. You likely don't need the studs, but they certainly help on early morning descents down i70 into Silverthorne.

Long term update for anyone considering the Nokian One. Had them installed in 2022, put 40,000km on the vehicle since, 10k of that was probably on my winter tires. I just passed the 60% indicator. I figure they will last 60,000km.

Nokian tires are pretty good. It's not a Goodyear, but they will perform very well.

I'm a little late to the discussion, but I had some Nokian all-weather tires for a couple years (on a Golf) they were better than all seasons, but definitely not as good as good winter tires in the, uh, winter.

Nokian Outposts: 2,390 mi. 9.8% worse efficiency. Would not recommend Nokians: Probably great offroad. Nothing short of scary on road. These tires are totally overwhelmed with the weight and power combo of the Rivian quad platform.
