Uniroyal Rainsport 5's great in the Great British Wet
I've found 40 psi to be a good pressure and I've had the Kona nearly 5 years, original Nexens. Sharpens up the handling over the recommended pressure.
I need new tires for my taurus 255/45/19. They're all way too expensive except for the uniroyal tiger paws at $135 per tire. I'll be getting them.
I have 177000 miles on mine, I just went with the value tire. Uniroyal Tiger paws. great so far.
Falken, Toyo, Uniroyal etc are all good midrange. Don't skimp.
I ran the original SUR4, enjoyed it but shoulder came apart in 16 runs on my HS car. Tried the Sport R on my ES car this year and enjoyed it. Only other tire I've had on it was the V730, and the Nexen was a little better all around.
I’m running 225/45/18 Nexen Winguard Sport 2 Winters with 18x8 NS1502
I have cheap Chinese I think, Nexan tires on my GTI because thats what the dealer put on the car. The ride real smooth, very quite and after 2 years and 20k miles they just wont' wear out. Probably have another 20k miles left to them. The wet grip is awful though. Dry grip is good.
Nexen is shit. Hyundai kia use them as their stock tires and they are absolute dogshit. Honestly 90% of their reputation for poor ride and handling. I popped one on a pothole. 3 mm sidewall thickness.
They will work good in the winter on ice and snow but they will suffer on dry conditions and the highway. I find that once you are driving over 50 mph (80km) they turn very unstable and very floaty. Also, they will be loud and cornering on dry pavement is pretty bad.
