I just recently got the Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4s and not the ZP version because of all the known negatives of runflats and I have to say they're amazing. They improve ride quality and traction is surprisingly similar to the Eagle F1s I was running before

Pros: improve ride quality, amazing traction
Cons: expensive

Michelin Defender LT M/S Quiet on pavement, handle great, good milage, excellent in rain, very good in snow, very good on dirt. Not the best option for mud, but why the heck would you want to drive in mud anyway?

Pros: quiet on pavement, handle great
Cons: not best for mud

YOKOHAMA Tires

They are good summer tires. Above average for an OEM tire. I live in rural Ontario and would not use them in winter. Disclaimer: I am a dedicated winter tire guy.

Pros: good summer tires, above average OEM
Cons: not for winter

I replaced them with the Michelin CrossClimate 2s just in time for the rainy season in my area. even with the new tires, I can easily lose traction and spin my wheels if I gun it off the line because this car is a FWD torque monster. But when I spin the CC2s, I never feel like I don\u2019t have control of the vehicle. I\u2019m really glad I upgraded the tires for the rain.

Pros: better control, upgraded tires
Cons: can lose traction
Mileage: 15000 km

MICHELIN Tires

The OEM Michelin Energy Saver tires sound borderline dangerous in the rain. I'm in SoCal; the previous owner had already swapped to Michelin Defender 2s lol. The Defenders though, they got grip for days.

Pros: good grip
Cons: dangerous in rain
Mileage: 14000 km

MICHELIN Tires

I switched to the Michelin Cross Climate 2s and they have substantially better traction than OEMs. You may have better options if you don't need the snow performance. The OEMs have notoriously poor traction, especially on wet pavement.

Pros: better traction than OEMs
Cons: reduced range

Is there a specific reason you have to get spiked tires? Bear in mind if you live in Bergen or oslo there is a fee to drive in the city, which can be quite expensive through the winter, unless you are driving up a mountain to a cabin or something i would reccomend spikeless, you should be able to get a decent set of michelin or goodyears for around 6k included a tire shop that balance them and put them on. Also to look at alternatives i would look at previous years higher rated models, those can be had for discounted price also

Pros: decent set of Michelin or Goodyears
Cons: spiked tires may not be needed

MICHELIN Tires

Picked up a new set of Cross Climate 2’s over the weekend. Handling is great, especially in the rain. Aesthetically, I think they look super cool and unique. They have an aggressive look to them.

That being said, I did not do my due diligence beforehand and let the guy at discount t*re give me the run down on them. One thing he failed to mention was the lack of efficiency they bring (not blaming him). In my first couple of drives I noticed my wh/mi to be well over 300 and in one instance on a 5 mile drive it was 395 wh/mi. Crazy! This is in comparison to my average of 252 wh/mi for the last 5k miles I’ve driven. It’s important to note that I like to accelerate fast and have had the heat on due to the cold weather coming in (Chicago native).

I wanted to see how much of a difference it made if I changed my driving habits so for the past 15 miles or so. I turned “chill” mode on and turned off the AC system and have averaged around 210 wh/mi. Nice to know that efficiency is still attainable just a bit sad that I will be losing 30%+ of range when driving how I normally do.

Hoping that with time they will break in and I will see that number go down a bit. I will update the thread as I put more miles on them.

Pros: great handling, aggressive look
Cons: reduced efficiency, range loss
