Tires MICHELIN or Toyo

Toyo Tires

I’ve been running Toyo Extensa hp2 on my Q 50 with 450 hp for about 3 years now and I’ve gone through two sets. They’re fucking incredible. I love them they grip they rip and they look good, great with the snow where I live and the wet and perfect for carving up on dry afternoons on back roads.

Pros: grip, rip, look good
Vehicle: Infiniti Q50

I drive my 240 daily to my job at a ski resort in the Rockies. I've had a number of different snow tires and really like my current Toyo Observe G-3's with studs. 2x 80lb sandbags in the trunk and it's a great performer, very predictable. The Toyo's are quiet as well.

Pros: great performer, very predictable
Cons: none
Vehicle: Volvo

The Michelins are on my stock wheels and primarily for daily driving. However, I have tracked it probably 6 times now and they're still going strong. They're the only tires I haven't chunked, and I don't baby them. They seem to lose pace instead of keeping it and overheating. You should get 6+ days/weekends out of the PS4S as a beginner.

Pros: still going strong, no chunking, good longevity, don't overheat
Cons: lose pace
Vehicle: Audi RS3

I run PS4S's on my 2019 mustang, which is a pretty heavy car. Intermediate HPDE. I have 6 days on my current set and expect 2-4 more days before they're totally thrashed. They are a superb beginner tire (lots of good feedback, predictable grip). I find the key to making them last is to not completely scorch them, I usually limit my sessions to 15-20 mins and always take 2-3 laps around the paddock to help them cool gently. Once they start getting greasy (you will notice both a change in feel and a drop off in lap times) its time to either come in or take a few cooldown laps.

Pros: superb beginner tire, good feedback, predictable grip, decent longevity

MICHELIN Tires

PS4S is arguably the best beginner tire. It’s great for now. Driving at 7-8/10ths as you will be as a beginner for awhile, it will last at least half a dozen days probably more

Pros: best beginner tire, great for now, good longevity

PS4S is a great tire with 300 tread wear, you won't be beating any times but I get them to last 7+ track days on the M340 which I find hard to beat. They're not a dedicated track tire, however, if you're just starting I think it's a great choice as they're chatty, great grip and good longevity.

Pros: great grip, good longevity, chatty, great for beginners
Cons: not for beating times
Vehicle: BMW
