MICHELIN Tires

2 years ago I got Michelin X-ice 3’s (in a 17”) on my car, steelies from Costco, installed, and TPMS sensors for right about 1100 bucks (in the GTA).

Pros: good brand, good price

I spent a good deal of time researching and went with the Michelin Defender LTX m/s tires to replace them. Expensive but fairly meaty, good ride quality and cornering, great in the rain, can't speak for snow. Expesive but worth it so far.

Pros: good ride quality, great cornering
Cons: expensive

The Michelin s have tough carcases compared to other Chinese shity tires. Anyway, I would definitly recommend you install a known brand. I started with cheap tires but switched fast to Michelin s.

Pros: tough carcases
Cons: Chinese shity tires

Drove about 10 miles on them after pickup and it’s night/day difference from the MXM4s that it came with. They seemed quieter although I didn’t get on the highway. Handling is like a different car. Not that it wasn’t good before, but it’s easy to see why everyone raves about these tires.

Pros: quieter, better handling

I bought Michelin X-Ice the year Consumer Reports rated them highest for winter passenger car tires. I got 4 of them. They were right around $1,000.00 for the set. I have great traction with them on winter roads but to be honest, I never tried driving on snow packed freeways with the all season tires. I got the winter tires the first time it snowed on the highways.

Pros: great traction on winter roads

I drive my RWD performance summer tires in sub freezing temps when it’s dry out, WITH caution. It will be like using hard plastic tires. No sudden shift in weight please!

Pros: drove in sub freezing temps
Cons: like hard plastic tires
