Discount Tires, Michelin Defender 2 - this is the way.
Paid about $1000 at Costco for Michelin CrossClimate 2 in 2023.
I have a bit of a sportier car so I primarily run more high-performance tires, currently running some Michelin Pilot Sport A/S4's, and in the rain they are really good. Also not horrendous in light snow but I wouldn't go out in a blizzard with them.
Ok, I’m moving from Atlanta to Western NY. I have never driven in real snow before. I bought these 2 weeks ago in preparation for my trip. I drove from Atlanta to Cincinnati, then Cincinnati to Olean. I-86 was insanely nasty. These cross climate 2’s got me here with no issues at all.
I just purchased them 2 weeks ago. I live in South Dakota. They are absolutely worth every penny. They are superior to the original factory tires. I've never had so much traction in the slush and snow before.
Just had them put on my Camry I live in upper Midwest. My mechanic recommended them. They are worth so glade I bought them. In 1 week of driving I am not spinning my tires or sliding like I use to.
Just put these on my telluride (Chicagoland) and the braking in the wet stuff is very noticeable. Haven’t driven on the slick stuff yet
Had them, loved them. Didn’t get the tread life out of them I had hoped (40K) even with 5,000 mile rotations, but I’ve been told I drive “spirited”. Put Goodyear Assurance Weatherready 2’s on my daughter’s car and they are quieter and the fuel mileage decrease doesn’t seem to be as significant as the CC2’s, with pretty close to the same tread pattern. I would feel quite comfortable with either of them as an all weather tire with snow capability. Either tire you buy you won’t be disappointed in my opinion.
I used them through last winter, which had some extremely icy periods. I had one sketchy incident, where I hit a patch of ice going about 5 mph and just could not stop, but I don’t think Blizzaks would have saved me there considering how slow I was already going. Other than that, they performed fine for me.
I went with cross climate 2s, but the performance has been really disappointing in wet conditions at low speeds, i lose traction often.
