Tires MICHELIN or Continental

Continental Tires

I'm having the Continental VikingContact 8 on my Mazda, must say I am really happy. They are super communicative in what's happening under the car.

Pros: super communicative
Vehicle: Mazda

I put on cross climate 2s on my wife’s 2019 Honda pilot all the way back in 2020 when the car had only 25k miles because the stock continentals where garbage. We have now had them on for 5 years and about 50k miles. I haven’t officially measured them but they look brand new. Still not even half way to the wear bars (just by looking at them)

Pros: look brand new
Cons: stock continentals garbage
Vehicle: Honda Pilot
Mileage: 50000 km

Went to Michelin Pilot Sport AS's and never looked back. My Passat has the same tires (only the never model, AS4's I think) and they provide excellent road holding (it has the VR6, the continentals were absolute trash at holding the power down).

Pros: excellent road holding
Cons: continentals were trash

Just put Defender 2’s on my 18’ Highlander. Bought it with coopers on it. Couldn’t believe how much better the ride is and how much quieter it is.

Pros: better ride, much quieter

Also live in Minnesota. I got the cross climates. Don’t have to change them out, they perform great in winter. Have had them on for 60k miles or so, mostly highway, and they still got a lot of life left.

Pros: perform great in winter, long life
Mileage: 96560 km

I went from Toyo Celsius to CC2’s on my 2014 RAV4 Limited, I love them and have had no issues in over a year and 20,000 km of use. I rotate front to rear every 8,000 km during my oil change so they are wearing evenly. I haven’t noticed a big difference in gas mileage or noise.

Pros: no issues, wearing evenly
Cons: no big difference
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 20000 km

We do have CC2's on one of our cars. My personal answer is, no tire is great at everything. CC2's are as good as advertised in snow and rain traction, which is a very valuable trait.

Pros: good snow, rain traction
Cons: not especially quiet

I run the Discount Tireequivalent of the control Contact sport all season on my scion XB daily. Quite as hard as ever put on that car, which has a lot of road noise. Sticks very well in the rain and heat, but I can’t attest to snow as cited above. They did wear a lot faster than their rated mileage so I got money back on the mileage warranty when I put on a new set recently.

Pros: sticks well in rain
Cons: wore a lot faster
