Edit: I run a DHF/Dissector combo, grippy in the front, speedier but still grippy in the rear.
I've put a couple hundred K's on mine and so far I love them. Great for street, gravel, dry dirt. The only issue I've had is the occasional wet mud on a trail. These get real squirmy in wet corners but I can't fault the tire, that's not what they're designed for.
I switched from the momentums to the grifters and am glad I did.
I bought a Trek Fuel EX this year, which comes with XR4 tires. I switched to Maxxis DHR/DHF after a month, and the improvement in grip is very noticeable. On technical climbs, its pretty easy for me to lose traction with the XR4 when I'm putting a lot of power down on a steep section. With the Maxxis tires on those same climbs, I never spin out. On the other hand, the rolling resistance is higher.
I got some Sailuns for our Montana 5th wheel and from my load range G goodyears to my load range G Sailuns I was getting 1.9mpg better on average and it pulls alot nicer. Have about 19,000 miles on them since putting them on last spring.
sailun tires lasted me super long time first time i got them. they are great freakin tires. i got the 80k miles sailuns on rn. i bought 40k rated sailuns and they lasted me longer than 40k one time. i wouldnt buy anything else other than sailun, cooper, and hercules because all these tires gave me positive experience
I was very surprised with the tyres -- soft ride, good handling, and good wet grip. I would say the performance was the same as that of BF Goodrich which I bought 12 years prior, at half price. This confirms the reviews that the Chinese tyres, and in particular the Sailun ones, have improved in the past years (almost) to the western standards.
My bike came with 27.5 **Ardent Race** tires and they are super fast and plenty grippy for most days. The side lugs grab corners really nicely. I have some 60tpi Ardents around and they are heavier and slower feeling.
I ride them and have have never really had a problem with em. That being said, I feel like they aren’t the right tires for me.
I rode a set of these from California to Panama. Would not recommend. The ride quality is decent but these things will find every fucking shard of wire scraps along the road. I got 3x as many flats as any of the folks I rode with.
