I swapped the original Michelin tires for Hankook iON evo AS tires, and I’m here to tell you how it went. The tires are quieter. I can confirm this - I actually thought there was something wrong with the car after they were installed. The vehicle does seem to handle better. We beat projected arrival in Chattanooga by over 12% battery.
Toyos and Kumhos have served me well over tens of thousands of miles. Toyo Open Country AT3W and Kumho Crugen HT51. Michelins are known as the best tire for longevity and commuting.
I've seen some good comments about the Hankook Ions
Go Cross Climate 2. Replaced my factory Toyos last year and you really feel the difference and safety.
Toyo's are underrated af, really good tires, but wear out slightly fast to my liking (3y)
Had a set of Toyo tires before on my honda jazz. Very satisfied with it. Lasted 6-7 years since low mileage lang yung car and never had any problems.
Toyo proxes sent me into a wall in the rain. 10/10 tire
my usual go to reccomendation for "an tyre" are Toyo proxes comfort at this moment in time, good levels of grip and they wear well for a mid range tyre
I feel that the Kinergy GT tires are mediocre at best for most conditions. Had them on our 2017 and they still had at least 4-5 32nds of tread when we turned in the lease at 38,000 miles, but at least 10k of those miles were with snow tires. I think 35-40k would be the max upper range and probably hitting the wear bars by then.
The GTI comes stock with some pretty bad all seasons (225/40R-18 Hankook Ventos S1 Noble 2). That has got to be one of the most mind boggling decisions because if you’re going for a GTI, you’re probably looking for something “sporty” so why have garbage tires as standard?
