Tires Hankook or Continental

Hankook Tires

I have 17x8 RPF1's with 245/40 R17 Hankook V12's and I have no problems with rubbing. Final et is 35 in the front and 30 in the rear on my car. I'm also lowered on ST Coils to about a 2 finger gap all around.

Pros: no rubbing problems

I replaced the OE tires with Continental DWS tires and they've been pretty solid. I've got 35k on them at this point and they have good tread remaining. However, I took my car in for rotation recently and they informed me the tires were cupping really badly.

Pros: good tread remaining, pretty solid
Cons: tires were cupping badly
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Continental Tires

Mine actually came with Continental Pro contact tires. However, I did buy it certified pre owned with 24k miles so I'm not sure if the PO changed them before trading. Whichever, this tires are pretty damn good!!! I'm used to buying Falken Ziex performance tires which I have had on all my previous cars but these seem a lot better. Might have to stick with these now....

Pros: pretty damn good
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Mileage: 38624 km

I had both the Sumitomos and Hankooks on my R32. Hankooks had more grip after they were broken in. The Sumitomos became noisy towards the end while the Hankooks were quiet down to the wear bars. I'd rate them both better than the Dunlop Sport Maxx's that came with the car. The Hankooks on my GTI seem to have quicker steering response and seem less squishy than the R32. Probably because I am running 235/40 on the GTI and had 225/40 on the R32. 235's have a higher load rating. Plus the R32 was a heavier car.

Pros: more grip, quieter
Cons: Sumitomos became noisy
Vehicle: Volkswagen

Had a set on my s2000 and liked them too. Very good rubber for the money. Predictable, good wet grip, not incredibly noisy either. They also held up well right until I cooked the rears off below the wear bars.

Pros: very good rubber, good grip
Cons: cooked the rears off
Vehicle: Honda S2000

Hankook Tires

Another vote for the Hankooks. FWIW, they are VERY good in the rain. Had a situation on the way home today where I had to stop short (been raining all day here), and they just grip the road. I was more worried about the guy behind me.

Pros: very good in rain

Hankook Tires

I've had a different model of Hankook for about 4 and a half years and I am actually going to replace them with the same model in a week or so. Very happy with the Hankook.

Pros: very happy

Continental Tires

My biggest complaint about the Conti DWS's is their softer sidewall. I prefer a stiffer sidewall for a better turn-in. Other than that, I have heard good things about the Conti's.

Pros: heard good things
Cons: softer sidewall

After a week with the DWS, I've decided to replace them with the OEM version of Pirelli all seasons. The DWS on my car aren't "loud", but the noise they do give off (high pitched whine) drives me nuts at highway speed.

Pros: smooth riding tires
Cons: high pitched whine
Vehicle: Volkswagen
