Tires GENERAL TIRE or Shinko

I used General Tire Altimax 12 studded tires on my 2017 VW Golf Sportwagen for the 4 winters that I lived in central Maine and absolutely loved them. Great winter tire especially for the price.

Get the shinko 777, they’re great. Stickiest compound tire I run and I have no issues in the rain. Great for wheelies too

I like the Altimax on my Passat.

I am on my second set of General Grabbers, and may go for another set. aggressive tread, quiet on the road, and last forever.

The rugged-looking alloy wheels of the prototype, shod in General Grabber A/T Sport tires (275/60R18), sound like a fitting choice for the production model.

I have been using this specific tire below for almost 20 years. Had my 2006 for 11 years and now my 2017. They have great wet road handling. Excellent tread wear. I get about 70K miles a set. Not sure what your price range is but don't skimp on tires, especially on a truck. You want that wet road grip.

Update 6 months later: I haven't gotten a chance to test them in snow despite getting them in January. It was a very mild winter. But I noticed immediately how much better they handled in the rain. Compared to those these made a real difference and I felt safer. I don't notice any more noise with these.

Switched to general grabber atx in stock size. I average overall about 16 mpg with majority of it highway driving between 75-80 mph. I would say I lost 1-2 mpg

They are great when they are new but as you put miles on them and the tread wears I thought they sucked. I replaced my generals with about half tread life because in the rain they liked to hydroplan.
