If you want something that’ll stretch closer to 15 to 20k km, the Maxxis Bighorn 2.0 has held up way better for me as my last set went just under 17k km before chunking.
Since switching to Maxxis DoubleDown, I've had no problems at all.
If you want as much choice of casing and compound as possible go Maxxis - DHRII or Dissector. Dissector is faster rolling and perfect for dry loose rocky.
For proper DH right now the most loved combo is Maxxis Assegai front / Minion DHR II rear, both in DH casing + MaxxGrip.
DHR II in the back, Assegai in the front is pretty good.
I used to buy CEAT, MRF and APOLLO before. For my Himalayan Apollo was the worst in terms of wet grip. Am trying Maxxiss RN and it's the best in Budget
Can be quality of tyre as well also your driving style. If tyre have soft compound it will go down quicker. I went trough set in 6 months. Maxxis premitra 5. Good grip but my god, they disappeared day by day.
Gravel tires don\u2019t have great puncture resistance generally, short of something like a 40mm Maxxis refuse. You really want to set these up tubeless. I would constantly get slow flats from flint or road debris when I ran WTBs with tubes.
I had these exact tires on an Acura TL. I wouldn't recommend them, they were not great in the winter. They were also really loud on the highway and they wore really quick.
In size 225/40 (r18), their thread width is comparable to other makers ~205. Well, does it matter? Yes, in the sense that when you install them onto an 8.5 wide rim, you'll notice that you're stretching the fit, and the sweating starts. Installing a tire alone with a basic tire machine is no longer possible.
