If you have a Discount Tire near you they made a special Discount Tire only collab with continental called the Control Contact Sport SRS+, they’re basically the same thing but ~$10 cheaper on average and better overall, that’s what I’m getting in just a month or so here. It’s hard to directly compare them but people have said the SRS+ are even sportier with a firmer sidewall and better steering response. At the end of the day they’re very similar but the edge goes to SRS in performance and price.
My Michelin pilot sport all seasons have treated me well… My a4 came with the older version of those continentals, as soon as I switched them it felt like the steering was much sharper and road noise was much less. Rain performance is also nuts. I’d skip the Pirellis but i’ve only driven the summer tire which had the same issues (noise & numb steering)
My recommendation is the Cont's
Same price, DWS06+ NO QUESTION. it’s the better tire. I’ve owned both. It’s much more expensive than the AS plus 3 where I live.
Contis all day . I love those dws.
The Conti’s for sure. I’ve had great luck with these tires.
Depends if you also drive on the highway, sparked tiers have a tendency to have a longer braking distance and bad grip on wet roads.
If you do drive the county roads that's not salted , Nokian Hakkapellita 10 is the go to.
If you do drive on salted highway alot then Continental tires is preferred as they do handle wet surface better and if you do have black ice (underkjølt regn) alot , a sparked tire will always be the best option.
Aren't the Continentals OEM? They came on my 2010 S5 and I've stuck with them for the past 120k miles, year round, with no issues.
The SportContact 6 have been disappointing in a few areas: poor rolling resistance, high wear, and noticeable road noise. I’d like to improve on those aspects while keeping good wet grip. I don’t mind a bit less dry handling — the SportContact 6 are insanely good there, but I’m not tracking the car, so that level of performance isn’t really necessary for public roads.
I put a driveway stone through a continental tire. Never again. They have lost something. Used to be a good tire. Not any more.
