I'm running the Conti VIkingContact7s. I had them on my 2019 and the dealership transferred them over to the new car for me since they're the same size. I've been very happy with them over the past two winters. They will definitely give up some dry weather handling to something like a PA4, but they're excellent on snow and ice. They're also reasonably quiet for a winter tire as well.

Pros: excellent on snow and ice, reasonably quiet
Cons: gives up dry handling

Just moved from Nokian all weather, which are really good, to studded Contis on a small fwd vehicle. Pretty unreal difference. Have Bridgestone all weather on an awd vehicle, which are also good, but the studded Contis beat the crap out of them.

Pros: unreal difference

I had the R2s on my 2021 Domane SL7. Had a rear sidewall blowout after a few hundred miles without hitting anything. Trek warrantied the tire and I used the credit to upgrade to the GP5K tubeless. Have to say they are awesome in every way and I like the tubeless ride, smooth, fast, grippy.

Pros: awesome, smooth, fast, grippy
Cons: rear sidewall blowout

Changing between the two is like riding a totally different bike - very responsive with the conti tyres but can give a lot of vibration on rough surfaces and much more dampened with the Bontragers but confidence inspiring when riding over damp leaves etc.

Pros: very responsive
Cons: vibration on rough surfaces

I'd go with the Conti GP 5000.

I've ridden the R3s in a 28c tubeless on my Domane. The R3s were solid but I really liked the way the GP5ks rolled when I had them (32c with tubes).

Pros: liked the way rolled

Michelin MXV4 to Continental DWS

DWS superior in everyway except getting bubbles. It would bubble at every pothole. Went to Michelin Premier A/S it was a downgrade in everything except bubbling still better than MXV4

Pros: DWS superior in everyway
Cons: bubbles at every pothole

Continental Tires

They are very squirmy tires, a poor choice for a sporty car IMO. I have a set of Michelin PA4 snows that are definitely better dry performers than the DWS. I purchased the DWS once for an Audi A4, but I returned them in less than a week.

Pros: better dry performers
Cons: very squirmy tires
Vehicle: Audi A4
