I had about 15K miles on the RE950’s on my previous car before I sold it. Absolutely pleased with the tire. No complaints. It handled what ever I asked of it, had great wet and dry traction, and seemed to be wearing well.
blizzaks are wicked...I'm pimpin' W50's right now...rear has too much air in them..the rear floats around like a bitch..I gotta fix that
I second the Blizzak LM-22 or LM18 choice. Great tires, I can hardly feel the difference between my 17 summer inchers and my 16 inchers winters. They're also pretty quiet for such a thread.
I've bought 4 new Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 winter tires last year and I found them really good. I uses to have a set of Michelin Artic Alpin on my old car but these Blizzaks are much better in my opinion.
I finally decided on the Bridgestone RE950's. I bought them on Monday and I haven't regretted it once so far. So far with these tires I haven't lost grip once when I didn't try and sometime not when I DID try.
Bridgestone S-02 Pole Positions--awesome in the rain and REALLY awesome on dry.
A friend of mine has the 950s on his Del Sol and does NOT stop saying great things about them. He got them at the Bridgestone Racing Academy for half price and is really really happy. However he does 'caution' that they are horrible, horrible in snow.
My vote is for RE950. I have just replaced my Passat's 195 OEMs with BS RE950 215/60/15. So glad I made the switch, the difference is like day and night. No sidewall flex, the wheels now look much better too.
I wasn't thrilled to see the OEM tire choice is yet again the marginal Bridgestone RE92, but they seem to do the job without being noisy. I have a feeling a set of dry-pavement UHP tires (RE730, S-03, etc) would make a good thing even better.
the pilots suck the largest balls this side of the circus in winter cond. I'm up in hamilton NY in winters and i got the blizzak LM-22s on millle miglia HP3 17\"s in january. they're the ****. i was slidin all over the place under any kind of acceleration with the pilots.
