Bridgestone A005 is exceptional in non-snowy conditions and definitely weaker in snow (but still miles ahead of any summer tyre). It is just tuned more towards mild climate and will get you home safely when you come across snow.

Pros: exceptional in non-snowy conditions
Cons: weaker in snow
Vehicle: Subaru
Mileage: 65000 km

I can, however, recommend some tires that I trust wholeheartedly, and I don't take it easy on my tires. (Bridgestone Battlax Hypersport S22) Fantastic grip in rain, dry, hot, or cold.

Pros: fantastic grip in all conditions

For my winter set I'm using the Bridgestone Blizzak LM005 (205/55/r16) and while not as good in the snow as the Conti WinterContact, they handle amazingly in wet conditions (we get quite a bit of rain) and are relatively silent and good on fuel.

Pros: handle amazingly in wet
Cons: not as good in snow

I ran R11s for a while before switching to slicks. They are about as close in profile as you can get when compared to slicks. My only gripe is that they overheated really quickly, to the point where regular slicks last 2-3x as long.

Pros: close profile to slicks
Cons: overheated quickly

I had blizzaks for a few seasons after a set of very good dunlops. I was severely dissatisfied in the e blizzak performance. Not only did they wear quickly but they were awful in the snow and dry. We have X-ices on the Tiguan and they are far superior to the blizzaks.

Pros: X-ices are far superior
Cons: wear quickly, awful in snow

I have a ‘99 Fireblade with a 16” front wheel rather than the 17” which is normal now. It is more likely to shake its head when going over a bump, banked over at high speed. It is also difficult or impossible to recover from a front wheel slide which would be recoverable on other bikes.

Cons: difficult to recover, shake head
