Tires BFGoodrich or Achilles

BFGoodrich Tires

I have only been autocrossing for about a year, and picked up Neuspeed RS05s with 245/40/17 BFG rivals as my dedicated autocross/track setup. I have run 3 auto crosses with this setup and so far have had no rubbing issues.

Pros: no rubbing issues

BFG Sport comp 2's. $112 each, great in the dry, great in the rain. TireRack loves them as do pretty much every review I read on them before I bought a set of my own.

Pros: great in dry, great rain

I've pushed those achilles so hard and there is still practically no wear! still trying to make these fit proper, some more fender rolling is needed.

Pros: practically no wear
Cons: fender rolling needed

In the early years (1998-99), it ran simple bolt-ons (intake, exhaust, header, no cat, software, pulleys, ac delete, LSD), but that's about it. The car did struggle on the top end grunt sometimes, but the torque was definitely there coming out of the corners...

Pros: torque was definitely there
Cons: struggled on the top end

I picked a set of these tires up from Bob a few months ago, I didn't want to wear out my RE-11's doing daily driving so I needed a second set of tires. The only thing I noticed about them is they do have a bit of road noise that comes in around 30-50km, but that is it. Performance and traction wise they are pretty good; infact better than most touring tires IMO. They handle equally well in the rain and with a higher treadwear rating they should last at least three or four summers for me.

Pros: pretty good performance, good traction
Cons: bit of road noise

Achilles Tires

Well, I put a set of Achilles Platinums on my vehicle today. On another forum 2 guys were having a raging debate about the good vs. bad on these tires. Even though these tires are relatively new to North America they do have a racing pedigree in Europe, and they very well exceed the standard American standards for compliance.

Pros: racing pedigree in Europe

Pros: handle amazing wet, dry
Cons: alot of road noise
