Strut assembly KYB or KONI
I got KYB's from RockAuto - $88 each for the rear, $187 each for the front. Ride is much smoother now.
Returned and bought kyb and have had no issues and the ride is great.
KYB for firmer sportier feel, and more durable
I have used Monroe and KYB. Both work equally well.
Go with KYB if you’re not going OEM.
I’m lowered 1.5 inches and I have KYB foxbody struts, cost me $130 for all four and it rides great
I’ll be honest, while it’s a massive improvement from where I was before changing them (the originals!????), I’m not a fan of the KYBs. They are SO STIFF.
KYB struts are reputable but they aren't known for being softer. I also know of issues with the easy strut assemblies causing clunking sounds.
I did this to my 2008 ES350 with KYB quick struts. Not a professional mechanic but proficient at changing parts. I’ve managed to save tens of thousands over the years, pretending I know what I’m doing out of my garage. Ordered the KYB, looked like this or worse.
Friday the shop replaced both rear struts with new KYB struts. The next morning I drove 160 miles round trip on interstate at interstate speeds. On the way back some minor road damage made the car feel like it was going to go right off the road -- pulling right, lots of twisting and yawing.
When home I found a puddle of reddish fluid where the truck had been overnight. This morning the shop confirmed that \*both\* struts had blown out and they never saw anything like it.
