Strut assembly KYB or KONI

KYB Strut assembly

KYB is the OE for the base level 4Runner so I would say they’re probably a good option. I’ve never heard anybody say anything good about Monroe in recent years or their subsidiary, Rancho.

Pros: good option
Cons: nothing good about Monroe
Vehicle: Toyota 4runner

KYB Strut assembly

For struts I replaced with KYB, no easy to find, but they worked. I had to purchase throfor the 03-04 S models, though mine is an 02 S model. Everything for me bolted on just fine and have been running them for about 8k miles.

Pros: bolted on just fine
Cons: no easy to find
Mileage: 8000 km

Ride height went up by 2” on the new struts, I’m not surprised the KYB equipment looks like it’s sitting taller.

Pros: ride height went up
Vehicle: Ford Taurus

KYB Strut assembly

Just replaced my 2008 Highlander struts with quick struts made by KYB an OEM manufacturer for Toyota. The struts, coils and springs are all made by KYB BUT they do not ride like the OEMs and are far stiffer. $800 vs $1500 - would I do this again. Probably spring for the direct OEM parts from stealer vs the KYB quick struts.

Cons: far stiffer, not like OEMs
Vehicle: Toyota Highlander

Although KYB makes very good bare struts, The preassembled KYB strut plus assemblies are straight up garbage. The strut top mounts and springs that KYB uses are absolutely trash and generally fail extremely quickly, if they aren't just failed right out of the box.

Pros: very good bare struts
Cons: straight up garbage, trash
