I've had 3 starters fail in the last months. All at about 10 years of age. I only install Honda starters. They have a stellar record.
Just had my car use the tsb so the starter replaced and torque converter moved one bolt. Hopefully this does permanently fix the issue.
Going to an OEM solved my grinding starter issue immediately, and it’s been 3+ years.
I got a refund and bought an OEM. Still working great 25k miles later.
For those who are experiencing this one click issue and are frustrated as all hell, replace the starter. One week later, haven’t had any issues starting the car at all. In fact, the startup sounds even more powerful than it did before.
Third one was Honda OEM and is still starting fine to this day!
Honda starters are $400. I did friends car Costs him $650
Had my starter replaced with oem starter on an 08 civic after breaking down on Christmas. Total was $800 but they claimed the starter itself was more than half the cost.
I had trouble with starter on my older Accord too, and know two people who has Honda Accord that had to replace it to under 130k miles. This car type seems like had shitty starter esp prone to Accords.
starter is $200. takes about an hour to change it. you got screwed with no lube.
