If you're going with coilovers pick something with adjustable shocks like Koni or Bilstein.
I am running the shorter Bilstein TC Sport shocks/struts with Neuspeed Sport springs (1.5" drop) and really like them a lot!
I've been running 17x8 superleggeras with VR6 front springs stock TDI Jetta rear springs with rubber spacers, bils TCs regular version, home made rear bar. Let me tell you this is a 100% perfect setup. All my hates are gone and this car is as as good as my previous Acura and much smoother than my LS1 Camaro.
I use Bilstein sports (rabbit) in the rear and Bilstein sports for a 4k Quattro in the front.
Same plus a set of Bilstein HD's repaired our pathetic and unmanageable vanilla TDI.
I have the HDs and would not have it any other way. I love them! Plus I'm confident they'll last the life of my car.
It's 100% your shocks. Get some Bilstein touring shocks, or Konis and you'll bet set.
I'm almost positive that the standard Mk4 Bilstein sports will work fine... They are perfect for the drop you get with H&R springs so it seems they be a perfect swap out with the 337's 1" inch drop.
I am getting H&R race springs and bilsteins sports put on this weekend. I wanna get my wheels aligned after this.
A good starting point would be Sport Springs (Neuspeed Sport, H&R Sport) with Bilstein or Koni Adjustable shocks. The shocks will be the most expensive, but remember that they'll outlast the originals!
