Get a Tacoma, then throw some Bilsteins on it (if it doesn't already have them) and a set of Michelins tires. Will ride nice.
Instead of replacing it with factor components, I decided to remove the setup in its entirety and replace it with Bilstein Sport Shocks and B&G Sport Springs. The springs are progressive which keeps a very factory-like smoothness to the ride but allows for tighter handling.
I've had my Bilsteins and double bellow rears in for about a year. Love the ride, couldn't be happier
same here. i love them. i have same setup. the handling is amazing ride is fine but some bumps do get serious. i like a stiff ride anyways.
Stock springs with Bilstein TC = "Most Comfortable" Everything else is a compromise between looks, comfort and handling.
The Bilstein sports are a good choice for a cupkit. I think the ones I have are Bilstein HD. They came off my old vr gti. So far Im happy with them

I finally got a chance to install the new Bilstein sport shocks today, despite the rain. I can't give a full review of them because it was rainy and wet today. But, they are significantly stiffer.
Has 3.5L head conversion - same as period Alpina B9. 5-speed, LSD, Bilsteins and Recaro interior all from factory. Great fun to drive. Very reliable - and even economical.
I installed a complete set of Bilstien HD shocks on my EV this weekend. All I can say is wow, they transformed the ride! The old OEM shocks were shot, all four had zero rebound.
