Oil filter OEM Subaru or Castrol

I used the Castrol once, and have been buying the assembled kit from ECS ever since. At 73K miles, now, and change it every 7-8K.

Wait until you change the filter on a Subaru where the filter is upside down.

Castrol Edge 0w 20 with the Dexos1 and an STP gold filter done at 2k.

7500 miles religiously, including filter every time. Full synthetic 5-30 Castrol.

Costco 5w30 synthetic with a genuine subaru filter every 3k miles lol

Oil Filters, I always use OEM Subaru oil filters, I just buy the bulk 12 pack from my dealer.

people are really set on the subaru filters as opposed to fram or others, and they’re really not very expensive so i just do it.

I buy Castrol edge and Mazda oil filter off Amazon.

Not only is it fine, it’s widely considered the best option for the WRX. I have had multiple cars and always did my own oil changes. On my first oil change on the WRX I used my (at that time) tried and true Mobil 1 high performance oil filter and the seal blew and made a mess. Luckily I caught it before any damage was done. Since then I’ve exclusively used Subaru OEM oil filters and had zero issues.

The oil on my wife’s crosstrek leaked and had to get it replaced. Guess there’s a known issue with them
