ooooohhh thanks for the tip. oh yeah, mahle oil filter, new cable bushings, new rubber type valve cover gasket seal, valve cover gasket studs, dipstick bushings, oil, and myriad other things are waiting to go in...
motor oil: Valvoline 20W50 dinosaur oil with a Mahle filter
I'd go for the Mahle or VW oil filter. Most aftermarket filters (Not sure about K&N) dont' have the check valve thingy in them...it's good for a few psi if I recall correctly...
Anyhow I would be interested in going longer drain interval, so I think that I will check out these new products Mobil is offering. Although I think the Mahle filter that has been in use is filtering well enough and the price is right at $5.
I used the bosch filter anway because I had already purchased it. It has a release valve, Fram doesn't. Anyway the Bosch o-ring was thicker and softer than the Fram's. Hmm, I bet that's why it was leaking.
what i would suggest that you do is go and get a better oil filter bosch etc. and change your oil to a heavier grade that is what i did in my 92 cab
yeah, you have to whip on an oil filter with an anti backflow valve. fram and mobil1 dont have them the dealer part is the best, imho, but bosch will stop the light also.
I just bought 6 MAHLE filters for my 8v, at what I think is a damn good price. The guy I bought them from (a fellow Digifanter) says this brand is the OEM filters of the new VW/AUDI/SEAT cars in europe.
I use bosch filter and Motul 6100 5w40 (synthetic) and I am very happy!
