Mann W71922 is a perfectly good filter and readily available, and the Mahle OC46 for the 928 will fit a 944, it's just taller. Also should be readily available.

Used some Rowe VW 508/509.00 0W20 oil plus Mann filter.

Pros: easy oil change

I use 10W/60 and change it out ever 5k. I also use MANN W 719/30 oil filters. They are designed for synthetic oils and longer oil changes.

Can’t tighten these caps by hand as they need to be torqued down to spec. Also use OE Mann filters and gaskets as they will not leak.

Pros: no leaks

Cons: needs torque wrench

I can recommend MANN filters. I've cut one open recently. They have a full metal construction, even the inner tube isn't plastic.

I bought a Mann brand filter for less than 3 bucks on sale! In my case though the filter didn't help even though the old one was way dirty.

Pros: cheap price on sale

Cons: filter didn't help
