I use fram a lot, never ever had a problem.
I disagree. I have used the fram and I am very happy with it. Speaking which, time to change oil, and that stupid filter is hard as hell to get off.
I have had the oil changed once so far (at 1500 miles - to get metal particles out of system). Gave the shop 4 qts of synth (so they wouldn't overfill) & checked level when I got home & was right near max on dipstick. I thought this was odd cause I was prepared to add a little more oil. I used Fram filter which is possibly smaller than VW filter thus allowing max reading with only 4 qts?
my oil filter housing is leaking profusely from the big O ring again. Has this happened to any of you. What would cause this? Could it be oil filter failure? I only have 1,000 on it since the last change and it happened last time with the same brand of filter (Fram). Any reason for this leak besides it being Fram
Do NOT use a FRAM oil filter, whatever you do! Mahle, Mann, or VW OEM only.
I have been using FRAM filters all this time, and the problem has re-developed.
I switched to the dealer filter and I will never go back to a Fram. Before my oil pressure when warmed up would not go above 2bar now it does what it is supposed to.
Not if you don't mind cardboard relief valves and the total lack of a anti-drainback valve. That's before we talk about filter quality. I will add that you'll probably never have a problem with a Fram but there are much better filters for similar money.
