Oil filter Fram or Wix
I used the ultra synthetic on my Chevy 5.3 for 150,000 kms and had no issues.
I just cut one of my Fram Ultra open from my latest shipment a few days ago and it’s still the same high-quality build. Nevertheless, the product itself is still the top choice for my shop.
Wix XP for over 100k. I used to work at a NAPA auto care center and we never had issues with the Napa gold’s
Wix probably beats oem. They a great brand.
There's quite a large selection of Fram and Motomaster filters for almost any imaginable make/model.
It won't hurt your engine to use Fram. Especially if you change your oil frequently enough and use good quality oil.
That said, there are better built and better filtering options available at similar or slightly higher prices.
Fram sucks, I have always been a purolator fan or OE
Fram is garbage
Some mechanics refuse to use Fram filters for good reason, they are the lowest quality filter you can possibly use, he doesn't want to be the last one to touch it if something happens.
Everybody has their favorite brands so you're probably gonna get lots of answers. Honestly if somebody else is doing it let them supply their own stuff so if there's any issue it's on them. I do my own oil changes and tend to stick with the manufacturer's brand or recommendation; Motorcraft for Fords, MOPAR for Chrysler, etc. A lot of those though are made by other companies like Purolator or Wix.
But generally speaking FRAM is terrible. A lot of their filters even have cardboard end caps inside that don't seal properly after a while and let contaminants thru.
