Oil filter AMSOIL or OEM Honda

OEM Honda Oil filter

You should definitely change the oil. I always recommend doing an oil change when you buy a car. When I bought my 22 civic and took it to service (because it was still in warranty) the mechanic told me it was a great thing i brought it in because the filter was so loose that he basically did 2 turns before oil started coming out. You never want to risk anything.

Pros: mechanic found loose filter
Cons: risk of engine damage
Vehicle: Honda Civic

AMSOIL Oil filter

Every 4500-5000 miles with Amsoil Signature and Amsoil filter. Do it yourself, it’s not hard and you can be assured no corners were cut. Don’t go beyond 5000 miles. The 3.5L is really hard on oil. It’s cheap insurance.

Pros: cheap insurance
Mileage: 8047 km

I only run Amsoil fluids and filters. Never had any issues and I track my 17' mostly.

I dont use amsoil brake fluid though. Castrol SRF React is the best brake fluid for dry and wet boiling points. But its pricey

Pros: no issues, good for tracking
Cons: pricey

AMSOIL Oil filter

I just go to the amsoil website and get the oil that they suggest, I've taken cars well over 200k with that advice. Don't overthink it. If you don't want to use amsoil for the oil, at least see if they have a low micron oil filter.

Pros: cars well over 200k
Mileage: 321869 km

AMSOIL Oil filter

I use Amsoil Signature Series & OEM filter.

Just change it every 6,000km and you’ll be good. Use synthetic, but brand isn’t as important as proper drain intervals.

Pros: Amsoil Signature Series, OEM filter
Mileage: 6000 km

AMSOIL Oil filter

I was skeptical, but I started using it and their best filter in my '98 Durango 5.9 (gas). I ran it for the full 25 K(+) and sent an oil sample out to a 3rd party "Analysts, Inc." for a full analysis - including spectrographic. Basically, their recommendation was that the oil showed minimal contamination, acceptable viscosity, and was still OK for continued use and to re-sample at next interval.

Pros: minimal contamination, acceptable viscosity
Vehicle: Dodge Durango
Mileage: 25000 km

AMSOIL Oil filter

I'm currently using Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 and an Amsoil filter. 2024 Rav4 Prime XSE with 44,000+ miles. Several used oil analyses flagged high fuel dilution so I want the thicker Euro oil in there and also change it early every 5,000 miles.

Cons: high fuel dilution
Vehicle: Toyota
Mileage: 44000 km

OEM Honda Oil filter

I had a 2002 Honda CR-V and the oil filter was mounted horizontally on the back of the engine. You had to reach through the RH front wheel well with the wheel removed or turned all the way to the left. Making a mess was completely unavoidable.

Pros: mounted horizontally
Cons: mess completely unavoidable
Vehicle: Honda
