Just wanted to follow up for anyone else thinking about running the same headlights that I found a working solution. To reiterate what MarcoCap24 stated, the Helix LED R Style for the Mk6 Jetta ( https://www.urotuning.com/Helix-Projector-Headlights-LED-R-Style-Mk6-Jetta-p/hvwj6hl-l7.htm ) LED UU's will light up as intended with a euroswitch.
I bought and installed them many years ago while I was living in Germany. The lights are in excellent condition with no damage, but the lenses are cloudy from years of use. They have never been sanded, so a 3M kit could be used to clean them up. The auto leveling functioned properly.
I just installed the Helix Replicas in my GTI s with the HID kit. They look great and big upgrade compared to the halogens. Only draw back is the high beams are useless as they are halogen and they get washed out with the HID.
buy the helix oem-ish lights from ecs. i got them and put a hid kit in them and they work great. they look oem but without the orange marker lights on the sides. your gonna get a bulb out warning no matter what you choose but from what i have read and heard the helix projector led housings work and look a lot nicer than the winpower ones. i havent seen them in person, but ive heard the winpower ones led's are kinda dim. the helix ones are just as bright as oem. ive put them side by side with a friends gli with oem bixenons and they pretty much match besides the marker lights. i couldnt be happier with them. install is easy too.
aka_deno said: Here you guys go. recorded it this morning. Sorry there is no sound other then me walking around the front of my car lol. First is DRL's only. Headlights witch in Off or Auto mode. The LED's turn off on the side when a blinker turns on (Not in video) but you can disable this in vagcom. (I like the LED's off during blinker, looks more OEM) THen Parking lights or running lights whatever you want to call them. LED's stay ON with blinker. Then Low Beam (This has the Pre-installed HID kit with 5000k bulbs. Wish they would offer 4500 as the 5000k is a whiteish blue, i like OEM 4300 or 4500 where its true white white, with a tad of yellow) The cutoff line is deep blue for some reason when i am driving around. Then High beams. I also have Lamin-x on the headlights, put that on before installing the headlights. Oh and NO the LED's dont blink in real life, just on camera. But this gives a good look at what they look like during daytime (post rain)
I have helix headlights with drop in HID,s. I have had them for little over 2 years now and I really like them. Like Dion said though you need to be careful in adjusting them as the plastic inner piece will break, mine did so I took it apart and fixed it. I have adjusted them a few times since then with no problems, I was just more careful. The beam out put is very nice. Once I got them aimed correctly I never get flashed by on coming cars and I see the whole road a lot better.
I have the helix MK7 reps with a generic HID bi-xenon set up. Works just fine. Like other said just make sure its a can bus system.
The Helix/Depo Headlights from urotuning.com were very ascetically pleasing; identical to OEM R32 headlights from afar. The HID kit went in perfectly and were completely installed from start to finish in under an hour. Unfortunately, there was good and bad to the headlights themselves. On both headlights, the cutoff is great, the highbeams are great and they look beautiful installed. The passenger side needed very little adjustment. The driver side needed some slight adjustment to level out; however, a hotspot was extremely present and unadjustable. The hotspot currently points into the opposing lane causing my visibility to be diminished.
I'm having the same exact same issue. Got mine thursday install Friday and they work fine with no errors. Now Sunday DRLs flicker on startup and only now work when the headlights are turned on. And also... condensation. It's not your install it is the cheap Chinese lights not working correctly.
2017 Tacoma headlights are crap. The HID projectors on my 2006 VW blow the Tacoma's halogen projectors out of the water.
