Engine radiator VALEO or Denso

I spent two years (off and on, as it only overheated when idling in 90+ degree conditions or when doing low-speed jeep trail climbing in the heat) chasing this on my rig. Over time, replaced fluid, thermostat, radiator cap, clutch fan. No joy. Finally pulled the radiator, and the front fins were horribly blocked. Replaced with a new Denso, and problem solved. Only issue with the new Denso was that the mounting rails on the new radiator were shite, but it was a matter of four bolts to swap over the old rails (with upper shroud still attached) to the new radiator.

Pros: problem solved, effective cooling
Cons: poor mounting rails

I replaced my radiator several times, always due to corrosion at the bottom edge where brine accumulates. Last time I replaced it for Valeo and for sure it had same design as your "new", which is a stamped aluminium sheets stuck on cylindrical piping. So far so good.

Pros: stamped aluminium sheets
Cons: corrosion at bottom edge

Worked well on my Valeo radiator, let it soak 10 min and a lot of very brown water came out. No leaks, cools better.

Pros: no leaks, cools better

VALEO Engine radiator

The only ones that seem to be made better are the Valeo's, there's a reason they cost more. I looked at mine, it has (relatively large) tubes inside not stamped channels.

Pros: made better, large tubes
Cons: cost more

VALEO Engine radiator

I'd buy a Valeo, but Valeo doesn't have a part number for the later Cabriolets and their catalog lists incorrect sizes. I bought my radiator locally, but I needed it ASAP and they happened to have a Valeo in stock

Pros: Valeo in stock
Cons: incorrect sizes
Vehicle: Volkswagen
Part number: 883727
