Engine oil VALVOLINE or OEM Audi

OEM Audi Engine oil

Over here in Germany changing your oil every 3k miles in a normal A4 absolutely tanks your resale value. The only reason to do this frequent oil changes is to hide problems. Personally my car did 30 000km(~20k miles) until 91 000km and then every 15 000km(~10k miles). It's a diesel and almost all longish distance highway trips.

Pros: long intervals, good for diesel
Cons: low resale value
Vehicle: Audi A4
Mileage: 30000 km

OEM Audi Engine oil

In Canada Audi recommends oil changes ever 15,000km. I always do 10-12,000km because I do city driving. My buddy did every 25,000km on his Mercedes Benz and the thing lasted to 400,000km.

Pros: long engine life
Mileage: 10000 km

I run valvoline in everything I own wether it’s diesel or gas. I used to use Rotella for my truck and pensoil for everything else, but valvoline seems to make it all run better and smoother

Pros: run better and smoother

For the last 17 years I've run the recommended Valvoline Blue in all of my Cummins and so far the internals have been spotless when looking inside.

Pros: internals have been spotless

'03 GX470, had 240K miles when I bought it just over a year ago. Now on my 2nd oil change at 245K miles with Valvoline High Mileage 5W-30 full synthetic and Fram XG3600 filter. It's quiet and doesn't burn or leak oil.

Pros: quiet, doesn't burn oil
Vehicle: Lexus
Mileage: 402336 km
Part number: XG3600
