Engine oil Shell or OEM Toyota

OEM Toyota Engine oil

I suggest you to use 5W40. I have a Toyota Auris and i change them every 7.500km without filter change and at 15.000 km with filter change. In my city at summer the temperature is about 40°C on summer and I have 257.000 km. I haven't any problems till now. My engine running smooth and never burned oil.

Pros: engine running smooth
Cons: no filter change sometimes
Vehicle: Toyota Auris
Mileage: 257000 km

Just to add my two cents, I am using Shell Helix Ultra ECT C2/C3 0W30 (it is basically the same as Pennzoil Euro 0W30 in the US) in my AGU 1.8T (150bhp) after I have killed an AGN 1.8 (125bhp) by using 10W50 for about 8k miles (I was flooring it a lot). I bought an oil pressure and an oil temp gauge after I have killed the 1.8, and the oil pressure seems to be perfect with the 0W30 (the engine has about 100k miles on it).

Pros: perfect oil pressure
Mileage: 160000 km

OEM Toyota Engine oil

I plan to run Toyota oil in my rav4. In the past, I would have never considered running OEM oil and I would tell most people it's a waste of money to do that. However, I've seen a few reports showing Toyota 0w-16 as having more than 700ppm of molybdenum in it, and it isn't from assembly lube used when putting the engines together.

Pros: high molybdenum content
Vehicle: Toyota

Shell Engine oil

Nothing goes into my trucks other than Rotella T6. It's a great oil, so oil changes can be spaced out over a longer period.

Pros: great oil, longer intervals
