I did first oil change on Atlas at 5k then did 10k changes, but the 3.6 is lethargic compared to the GTI which I have been doing about every 4k miles.
I'm using Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40.
I've added only one quart of oil to all the VWs I have owned over the past 35 years. I check the oil every 3 months, and get the oil and filter changed annually. I don't think that modern engines consume oil, at least, not for the first 100K miles of their life.
None of my MK7, 7.5 GTIs or GLIs consumed any. Nor does my MK8.
After 6 months of ownership, I have not lost any oil/ needed to add any oil. My MK7 1.8 TSI Golf SportWagen was the same way. Never needed to add a drop between the 10k mile oil changes. Not complaining at all. Quite the contrary. Just hit 6000 miles and the oil still looks new. I was originally planning on 5k mile oil changes but decided 7500 miles makes more sense for me at least.
I use pennzoil euro lx. Seems to work good and doesn’t burn any so
Just finished my break in on Fridays, did a oil change on Sunday with w5-20 penzoil platinum. But I honestly prefer you go with anything besides 0w-20, it’s good and the OEM spec but everyone has seen issues with that oil and it can’t hold well in hot temps which is what this car really is meant to be at hot temps
I use Pennzoil Platinum or Ultra Platinum 5W-30 and the FL400S or an equivalent filter.
OP, love the choice of Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Ultra Synthetic! Anyways, does the jug of Pennzoil Ultra Platinum seem a lot lighter than other 5 qt jugs of oil?
If you have ever rebuilt an engine that used Pennzoil, you would never use it again. The top of the head will be covered in carbon.
