My car runs full synthetic, no additives. I find a 2.0 engine oil filter mount swap(from cartridge to screw on), royal purple filter, and penzoil ultra/platinum are an amazing combination.

Pros: amazing combination

I use Pennzoil Ultra 5W-40 European formula in both of my GTI's and use only oem filters (which are very good btw).

Pros: very good filters

I've owned this car for a year and stuck alot of money into it and love it but have to part cause i just ordered a RHD rx-7 from japan so i need to make room in the garage and i have to part with my VW its sad but i hope i find a good owner. INFO: 46,000 miles ENEOS oil is good for 22,000 miles they say but i still changed it every 5,000 miles. i also used it in the transmission and i felt a difference just from the oil and will use it now in every car i own.

Pros: felt a difference
Mileage: 46000 km

That is my personal favorite so far. Use or burn less than anything else I have tried, and I swear the engine sounds quieter. Previously used Castrol, Amsoil, Mobil 1.

Pros: engine sounds quieter, less burn

PENNZOIL Engine oil

I just picked up some Penzoil synthetic 5w-40 today and right on the front of the bottle it says "Meets BMW and Mercedes requirements" a little search on back label listed all the specs and all VW specs listed above are on the back of the bottle.

Pros: meets requirements, good price
Vehicle: BMW
