I used Shell Rotella T6 5w-40 for a while (not cat AND Sohn installed) and it was fine.

I have a couple of oil changes of the M1 0W30 ESP. It does meet the spec.

I run Brotella T6 5-40. 22.50 a gallon from amazon. Fantastic Stuff.

If you look at the forums there’s tons of information on this. The rotella T6 5w40 is considered to be the best oil for the EJ hands down.

Pros: best oil for EJ

I use 40 until Winter then I switch to 30.

Pros: better suited for warmer temperatures

Cons: 30 better suited for colder temperatures

I've always had great luck running 0w-20 Mobil 1 through my 2012 skyactiv. Regular changes through 130k and counting.

Pros: great luck, regular changes

I run 15W-40 Shell [B]Rotella in my Volvo because it's an old turbo car and the enthusiast community has had success with it.

Toyota Synthetic is made by Mobil. It’s basically Mobil 1.
