Engine oil Mobil or Pentosin

Mobil Engine oil

Put in 4.0 US Qts. of 0W-40 Mobil 1 (extra due to larger filter). Started the car briefly to check for leaks. Based on my measurement, with the new larger filter, 4.0 quarts will bring you to about 60% up the crosshatching on the dipstick. So, I added another 1/4 quart (8 oz) and that seemed to bring it right to the top. So, 4.25 quarts is what I will be going with in the future.

Pros: good oil level

To bad Walmart stopped stocking Mobil Delvac1. $32 + tax for 4L of full synthetic. Probably one of the best, if not the best oil for Pre PD TDI's...

Pros: one of the best oil
Cons: Walmart stopped stocking

Mobil Engine oil

I bought a case of Delvac1 5W40(4x4L) Synthetic at a distributor not too long ago for $128 tax included. On a side note, it was cheaper to buy the Delvac1 than the Mobil 0W40!

Pros: cheaper than Mobil 0W40

I switched to Mobil1 5w-30 shortly after purchasing my 99.5 1.8T and I haven't had any problems, as a matter of fact my cold-weather starts noticeably improved and oil temperatures seem to be consistently lower during normal operating conditions.

Pros: cold-weather starts improved

I switched to Mobil1 synthetic. The factory fill oil is 0w30. I replaced it with Mobil1 0w40, it complies with all of the specifications, and is not that expensive.

Pros: complies with specifications
Cons: need to buy 7 quarts
Vehicle: Audi A4
