Mobil 1 5w50. Temperate climate. Car always garaged. Annual changes at 4000 miles. Zero top ups required.
This one was done at the local VW dealership where they added 6L of VW oil and were nice enough to collect a sample of the oil for me to send off to Blackstone. The oil in this sample had higher quantities of wear metals present vs the 3rd sample, but that is to be expected as there were more than twice as many miles on the oil.
I use Mobil in my economy cars but Valvoline in my drift car , either oil is perfectly fine tho tbh
I always get the cheapest oil with the correct specifications. I use that mobil1 in my hybrid Camry. Works great.
I use Mobil 1. Meets MB spec and can get 5 quarts at Walmart for $30.
I used to use Mobil 1 in my IS 350. I can confirm my engine was quieter on cold stars when I switched to Ultra Plat.
Mobil1
Owner of an often abused 250k+ mile 2002 Outback here. I use Mobil1 full synthetic 5W20. Runs like a top.
Just keep the right viscosity oil in it and monitor the oil temp. You might be able to read oil temp from you ECU through the obd port. 120-130C is very ok with good synthetic oil.
I blew up a VW polo with the wrong oil and high oil temps.
DO NOT use Mobil1 0W40 in the 2.5. I tried it and well before the oil change time, the engine sounded like a diesel with all sorts of valve train rattle.
