Engine oil Mobil or MOTUL

Mobil Engine oil

Been using Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic since I rolled it off the lot. Zero issues. I do my own changes every 3-5k. I did swap out to the FL400s filter to make it an even 6qts.

Pros: zero issues
Vehicle: Ford Focus
Part number: FL400S

From my own experiences, M1 is excellent. Been putting it in my 30 year old Celica for 7 years, gotten 160k miles out of it, 320k miles on the original motor in total. My buddy’s Corolla had a bad timing chain slap on startup, went dead silent ever since swapping him over to M1. I just stick to what I know.

Pros: M1 is excellent
Vehicle: Toyota Celica
Mileage: 257495 km

Mobil Engine oil

My wife drove her 2008 Passat 2 miles per day for six years. As you can imagine, during these very short drives in winter, the oil became diluted - this was born from sever UOAs. So, I changed the oil every 1,500 miles and the oil and filter every 3,000 miles. Over-kill perhaps but based upon my personal expectations, worth the time and money. We used Mobil 1 0W40....which sheared to a 0W30 fairly quickly and stabilized.

Pros: stabilized after shearing
Cons: sheared fairly quickly

I tried Mobil 1 15w-50 for about 15 minutes (literally!) in my 2.0 one time. The valve noise at startup was so bad I drained it immediately.

Cons: valve noise at startup
