Engine oil Mobil or AMSOIL
You can use Amsoil just fine, one of the best oils on the market.
To be honest, the mobil 1 ESP 0w-20 is a fantastic oil and meets those specs and is at walmart for $8/qt
My oil report on 0w30 mobil1 esp looked good. I'll keep using it. Mix of track and daily duty.
I\u2019ve been running Amsoil signature 0w-20 in my FL5 for about 5k miles now. No track driving, just a mixture of city/highway. Some spirited pulls and rowing through the gears but mostly normal driving. Car is stock aside from PRL intake and custom tune. Had Blackstone do an oil analysis after the first 3k miles and all was well and below the average for all wear metals. I\u2019m in Florida so pretty hot climate overall. Very happy with the oil and will continue to use it at that viscosity
Seeing good results, lower heating, smoother functioning with Mobil Super Moto 15W-50 Synthetic Technology Engine Oil.
I was riding in the Himalayas where low-gear, high-acceleration could not be avoided and decided to try this. Noticed better performance, lower heating and decisively moved away from RE's semi-synthetic.
I wouldn't limit yourself to VW brand oil only if another "approved" oil is cheaper. VW has a document listing which oils meet their spec. I use the MOBIL 1 Esp x2 (it's on the list) since the 5 quart bottles are usually cheap from Walmart.com.
I’ve ran mobil1 5w30 for a few years now with oem filter on my 1990
I use 10w40 also from Mobil 1 high mileage. A lot of our engines will have a tick on start up or once hot, if so with your Motul, switch brands to another top tier on next oil change and see if your engine likes that brand more.
Honda oil is overpriced and mid. Mobil1 is just mid. Neither are good regardless of the kind of consumer you are.
Syn 3 is garbage. I typically run mobil 1 full synthetic (twin cam) or motul and motul for other stuff since they have dedicated lines for primary, oil etc.
