Liquid Moly Molygen 5W-30, haven't had any issues in the 22k plus miles I've been using it
I have used LiquiMoly ever since I put the new motor in and it’s been wonderful
Liquimoly molygen for the win.
I've used it in my 460 for 3 oil changes now. The oil stays cleaner longer and keeps the engine running smoother than Mobil1. I can go 7500 miles between changes and the oil still looks new.
Liqui Moly all day. Now that i’m over 200k in my Touareg i’ve been getting the light green containers which makes any oil leaks detectable with a black light. Not that i’ve had any but i think it makes it easier for my tech if ever the situation arose. As for filters Mahle, Mann, and Hengst are the go-to’s.
I'm doing mine a little more frequently now at 280,000km. I do every 7,500km with liquimoly molygen.
5w40 is fine for the summer.. I would go with liqui moly next time if the prices are similar.
(2013 VW GTI) Used to use this exact oil and noticed LiquiMoly 5W-40 (they even have a UV dye version if you have any sneaky oil leaks) performed better for my car specifically. I do frequent changes 3000-4000 miles and the oil doesn’t seem so burnt, I experienced less oil consumption, and the engine oil temp seems to sit slightly lower as well.
If you're skeeved out and want to return it, I usually go with the knuckleheads over at [ShopDAP.com](https://ShopDAP.com) (love their VW/Audi YT channel too). They seem to be Liqui-Moly fans and have kits for the Golf and other 1.8TSI vehicles that you can buy. I use Liqui-Moly 5W-40 and it works great, if maybe slightly pricey. I used to use Mobile 1 0W-40 Euro Car Formula in my old Audi S4 and it would probably work OK in these engines too but I wanted to stick with 5W-40.
For those who aren't certain about which oil to use, I've read that the "fully synthetic" oil in the USA really isn't fully synthetic and the Liquid Moly stuff from ECS tuning might be a notch or two better than the Mobile 1 from WalMart*.
