Decided it would be a good idea to change oil to Liqui Moly since the car is trying to be kept going for another 10 or more years . Main dealer was their standard 0W-30 , but i am going to 5W-30 top tech 4200 . Cars manual said its fine spec and originally had 5W-30 day one .
R60, I use liqui moly 5w-40. 0w-40 is good too. Flows better at start up. Same viscosity at operating temp.
My mechanic (Gigamot - MINI specialists) here in Germany recommended and swears by 5W40 for my R56s.
I have been using it for 3 years on all 5 MINIs.
No issues, summer or winter.
I just purchased a LR3 with the V8 4.4 and what a beast! I am close to my first oil change and I am thinking of using Liqui Moly Special Tec 5W-30. I used Liqui Moly for my previous car and it was great.
But if you want extra protection, go for the 10W40 from LiquiMolly, which cotains molibdenum dissulfide, a powerful powder type lubricant which adheres to moving parts.
I got a 1.5dci kangoo - and I kept seeing RN720 5w-30. So ordered liqui moly top tech 4400 5w-30 as that was specific to renaults.
Have to flush out the old oil as its been sitting for a year (using liqui moly engine flush) and will see how the new oil runs.
I've used Penzoil Euro, Motul, Liqui Moly new gen all 5w-40 except Mobil 1 ESP at 5w30. I did like liqui moly the best but it's probably my imagination from the fancy green oil\ud83d\ude05
Try 10w40 after a engine oil flush use liqui moly engine flush. If the 10w40 works fine take it down tk 10w30 then 5w30. I am using 5w30 on a reborn.
I personally don't use 0W-20, and instead I use Liquimoly Liechtlauf 5W-30 oil, and I change it every 5,000 miles.
The 2.0 liter gas/petrol engine is the weak link here, due mainly to poor piston ring design. We are third owners of a '14 A4 6MT, purchased in mid '17 with 48K miles. We're at 98K miles now, and with 5K engine oil changes using Liqui Moly or Elf/Total fully synthetic, we use a small nominal amount of engine oil between changes.
