Yes you can I’ve been using 10w40 castrol ever since I got it and I’ve been fine
I run LM 5w-40 as recommended by my tuner.
I just do the liqui moly. Also I change my oil well before the BMW recommended 10k.
I often go for liquymoly or Motul 4t 10-w40 fully synthetic oil for my big machine.
LiquiMoly oil is the best. Top tec 6310 0w30 is what I use for the THP.
I use Redline but for a million years I used Mobil 1 car oil. Before that we used Castrol 20/50 petroleum oil
I used to have a B8 and kept my oil level OK as per the MMI and only used Liqui Moly oil.
I always ran castrol gold motorcycle 20w50 on my Harley's.
Smedia had a video about this and he had more wear with less miles using Motul over Castrol in a Blackstone report. So for me just the convenience and price of Castrol edge I'd pick it over Motul. Knowing it had less wear wear was the nail in the coffin of buying overpriced and often several year old Motul.
