Engine oil Castrol or VALVOLINE
I change the oil myself...to ensure it's done correctly and with quality oil (I use Castrol Edge). And I go by the oil minder. I do smell gas during oil changes but it's not strong and never in the cabin between oil changes as some have reported.
I only run Valvoline VR-1 40-wt in my air-cooled VWs
I have a 2010 civic si, I use shell rotella T-6 5w-40 due to burning issues and one quart of Castrol 5w-30 high mileage full synthetic (I’m picky lol- but my car runs smooth and has consistent oil levels on the dipstick through the weeks after oil change)
I tell you the stuff really works. My 2009 Matrix used to burn oil before I switched to Valvoline Restore and Protect.
i honestly have no way to prove if it works, but i started using it in my ‘98 corolla about 20k mi ago (known for burning oil due to flawed piston design) and have noticed a significantly lower oil consumption rate, which was almost 2qts every 5k down to less than half
I normally dont buy into stuff but my vette was burning oil, Id see a big cloud of blue smoke after I let off after every pull, few thousand miles of this stuff and I stopped seeing it.
That stuff ROCKS! Cured my stuck piston rings issue on my 201O Acura J37 engine.
It works. It’s a quality oil that I use in my daily 5.0 S550. Used in my 200k mile 2.0L turbo fusion and the first oil change was so gross. Blow by has gone done a lot.
Nissans are hard to read too. Valvoline always shows me the stick and I can barely see the proper fill level. Car is usually fine.
