Castrol Engine oil

As someone who lives in Florida, and has a high mileage m54 motor, I only use Castrol 5w40 and 5w30 if I cant find the first option. Runs amazing and daily driven with some abuse lol

Pros: runs amazing

The 2020 has been great but the engine still clacked and groan albeit nowhere near the 19. With the 0.5 quart of Castrol 5W50 I love the car now! Pickup is great and the engine being pettier seems to help the transmission shift better also.

Pros: quieter engine, great pickup

I use edge 5w40, I switched from 5w30 and oil consumption has went way down and it feels like the engine runs smoother.

Pros: engine runs smoother
Cons: high oil consumption

I've used a number of different oils in my XS400 over the past couple years, can't say I've noticed much of a difference other than when I used a 15W40 the engine was a lot noisier, going back to 20W50 and the engine quieted down a lot.

Pros: engine quieted down
Cons: engine was noisier
