Castrol 5w40 Euro spec, my car runs better on that than 5w30
I use just regular old Castrol Edge full synthetic 0W-40 in my 2012 Jetta year round, currently has 156k miles on it (251km).
I used both wrong spec oil and wrong weight oil on my 06 Rabbit 2.5 for about four years. I was an idiot. However, nothing ever happened. I'm at 223,000 miles and the cams look brand new, engine runs smoothly.
Castrol works fine.
Dont use the cheap stuff. Liqui moly or Castrol!
This is what I use… with a Fram synthetic oil filter.
I have been using 5w-20 for more than 3 years on my Accord 2004 (330K) and 2003 (230K). I have no issues with both and the engines runs the same as before using other oils like Castrol Magnatec.
But as a fellow 7.5 owner i switched to 15w-40 when going stage 1 because where i live temps regularly even in winter are around 98-105 degrees and i was finding i had to top off the oil every 1,200 miles, since the switch to the thicker oil ive done 2,500 and the level is exactly the same
Castrol Euro in my mk6. It meets the VW spec according to the bottle. I've been using only that for 9+ years, changing oil at 10k miles or 1 yr, zero sludge, zero problems, original turbo, good compression, good oil pressure, etc. IMO it's very good oil.
Currently using Castrol Edge 5w-40 fully synthetic, previously was using Estremo Heatpro 5w-40 FS, differences is so minimal to the point where you just neglect and forget about it....
Smoothness the same, silky smooth.
Car feels slightly like just slightly lighter on pickup with Castrol.
I hated the castrol, I could tell the engine was louder with it compared to Pennzoil.
